Linda Draper
New York City folk chanteuse Linda Draper
has been best described as an artist with a creative, fresh sound - Timeless folk/pop
with a vision all her own. Her exploration of music began in the church choir,
later venturing to eclectic genres such as the Renaissance Faire. She has also
be embraced by the Antifolk music community in New York City which has featured
notable artists such as Beck, Lach, and Michelle Shocked.
Linda Draper
recorded her debut LP “Ricochet” in 2001 with New York City producer Kramer (Low
and Galaxie 500). The partnership would continue with her next three Long Players:
2002’s “Snow White Trash Girl,” 2003’s “Patchwork,” and her debut LP with Planting
Seeds Records’ “One Two Three Four.” All of Linda’s LP’s has met with critical
acclaim worldwide. Linda Draper’s expansive catalogue continues to grow with each
year with appearances on a variety of compilations – fine tributes to the very
artists/songwriters that continue to influence her. Linda has contributed to a
couple of Wood Records’ compilations “Poison Ochs” an homage to 60’s folk singer
Phil Ochs (released in 2004 – with her version of “Flower Lady”) as well as “I”ll
Never Leave You – A Tribute To Harry Nilsson” (released 2005, featuring “Lottery
Song” performed with Brian Wurschum).
In 2006 she appeared on a long
over due music salute to Rock & Roll, Country Rock pioneer Rick Nelson. “Easy
To Be Free: The Songs of Rick Nelson” which featured Linda’s take on Nelson’s
autobiographical “How Long.” Her fifth studio LP "Keepsake", produced by
Linda and Major Matt was released in 2007 to more critical acclaim. Her latest
release "Bridge And Tunnel" is produced by Brad Albetta (Rufus Wainwright,
Martha Wainwright, Linda Thompson, etc) and features the single "Time Will
Tell".
