Planting Seeds Records photographer Steve Frank, along with other staff members get a chance every now and then to visit some really great people in the PSR family of artists. From time to time they'll get a chance to write down some thoughts, shoot a cool photograph here and there. Read below to see where the staff went recently.

Rick Nelson Tribute CD Party: The
Sidewalk Cafe
Opening
the show was Philadelphia based via Norfolk, VA Jeff Mellin - he kicked things
off with an accapella version of "Lonesome Town" then filling his set with tracks
from his recent solo LP "Good for The Gander" (Stereorrific Records). The spotlight
of the set of course was Mellin's pop filled version of "Garden Party," complete
with toy piano solo by brother Joel Mellin. Jeff Mellin closed his set with a
great reading of Bob Dylan's song "Let Me Die In My Footsteps." After all, Rick
loved Dylan.
Linda Draper enjoyed a return to live performances with
a fine set at the Planting Seeds Records'/Cancer Care Rick Nelson tribute CD release
party. Linda's show included a preview of tracks from her upcoming LP "Keepsake"
(to be releaesed in early 2007) and her already classic critically acclaimed fouth
LP "One Two Three Four." She also performed the very lovely Rick Nelson composed
song "How Long." The set also included the debut of a new song "Time Will Tell"
and an ultra cool duet on the Harry Nilsson track "The Lottery Song" with fellow
Planting Seeds' artist Brian Wurschum of The Voyces. Linda later appeared with
the Voyces, for one song: "Top of My Lungs."
The
Voyces headlined the night with a set of melodic tracks including their Rick Nelson
contribution: "Poor Little Fool" which also featured antifolk artist Peter Dizozza
on piano. The band also churned out variety of tracks from their excellent LP
"The Angels of Fun," kicking their set off with the ever-so melodic "Tangerine"
plus the title cut, "Rebby's Song" among others. "Love Arcade" is the latest release
and their performance was capped by the very rocking "Big Black Car." Brian and
company are currently in the studio preparing their debut release on Planting
Seeds for 2007.
