Wolfie
“through
the looking glass”
“Everyday after school, I would
eagerly run home and plop down in front of the TV. My four favorite shows
were on, all in one afternoon — the 60s Spiderman cartoon, the Monkees,
the 60s Batman tv show, and Spectreman. I was glued to channel 32 and
channel 50 til around 5 when I would bring out my well played copy of
'Barrel Full of Monkees' and dance around the room singing and playing air
drums ( I wanted to be Mickey), while my GI Joe figures waged a battle on
top of the couch mountain. The Monkees were a big part of my childhood and
the show and songs went hand in hand. Usually, people site the
Beatles as to why they first got into music, but for me, it was the
Monkees. When I got my first drumset at 14, one of the first three songs I
tried to learn was 'Stepping Stone' and I didn't listen to the Beatles
heavily until I was 19.” -Joe
