“The Monkees were like a 1960's Backstreet Boys but different because the corporate machine had never really been set in motion on a scale like that before. The Monkees were smart, though, and realized they were super cheezy. From then on they demanded to write and perform on their own stuff and gave up (some of their) fame and fortune to make their own music. I really respect that and think some of their best stuff came from when they were trying to find themselves. For Pete's Sake and Randy Scouse Git are my favorites and they were both written by Monkees. I think Mickey Dolenz's daughter is really hot, too.”
